RCB Film Club ร่วมกับ Documentary Club ภูมิใจนำเสนอ “Doc Club Pop-up Screening” เพื่อเอาใจเหล่านักสะสมและผู้รักศิลปะด้วยการนำเสนอสองสารคดึที่บอกเล่าเรื่องราวของคู่รักนักสะสมมนุษย์เงินเดือนธรรมดาอันโด่งดัง ผู้หลงรักศิลปะอย่างลึกซึ้ง เฮอร์เบิร์ต โวเกล พนักงานไปรษณีย์ และ โดโรธี โวเกล ผู้เป็นบรรณารักษ์ โดยในสารคดี “Herb & Dorothy” บอกเล่าเรื่องราวที่ทั้วสองได้เจียดเงินเดือนเพื่อเก็บสะสมผลงานศิลปะทีละเล็กละน้อยจนสร้างคอลเล็กชั่นผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัยกว่า 2,000 ชิ้น ซึ่งผลงานหลายต่อหลายชิ้นได้กลายเป็นผลงานสำคัญในประวัติประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะร่วมสมัย และสารคดี “Herb & Dorothy 50X50” สารคดีภาคต่อที่จะพาผู้ชมเดินทางไปยังพิพิธภัณฑ์ทั้ง 11 แห่งทั่วสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งทั้งสองได้บริจาคผลงานของพวกเขาเพื่อประโยชน์ต่อสาธารณะ

สารคดีทั้งสองเรื่องนี้นอกจากจะนำให้ผู้ชมเพลิดเพลินไปกับชีวิตสองนักสะสมแล้ว ยังทำให้เข้าใจได้ว่าการสะสมไม่ใช่เรื่องไกลตัว และมีคุณค่าอันลึกซึ้งดังคำกล่าวของเฮอร์เบิร์ต โวเกลที่ว่า "สำหรับผมแล้วเงินไม่มีความหมาย ศิลปะต่างหากที่มีค่า”

They're back! RCB Film Club, in collaboration with Documentary Club, proudly presents the return of “Doc Club Pop-up Screening”—a cinematic treat for art lovers and collectors alike. This special edition spotlights two extraordinary documentaries that chronicle the quiet yet remarkable lives of Herb and Dorothy Vogel—an unassuming couple with a boundless passion for art. Herb, a postal worker, and Dorothy, a librarian, spent their modest salaries not on luxuries, but on collecting contemporary art, piece by piece, with unwavering devotion. The first film, “Herb & Dorothy”, tells the inspiring tale of how this humble duo built one of the most significant collections of contemporary art in the United States—over 2,000 pieces—many of which are now cornerstones in the history of modern art. The journey continues in “Herb & Dorothy 50X50”, the compelling sequel that follows the Vogels’ generous mission to donate their vast collection to 50 museums across America, enriching the public and preserving their legacy for generations to come.

Beyond offering a charming glimpse into the lives of two legendary collectors, these documentaries gently remind us that collecting art isn’t reserved for the elite—it’s a deeply personal journey, accessible to all, and rich with meaning.
